About Me

Hi! I am Shannon, and I am a just like every other struggling teen age girl out there. I have a lot of bad hair days, boy problems, and I can never seem to get a good night sleep, but none the less I always find something to keep me happy. Track is my life; I train for the sport 365 days of the year and I wouldn’t want it any other way. I have a lot of dreams, and irrational plans for my future, but I truly believe I can live the life I’ve always imagined.

Why I advocate for online safety.

Q & A

  • What have you done online that you’re most proud of?
  • When I was 14 I created a teen’s guide to MySpace. My friends and I wrote it all in chat lingo and it was just a really cool project to do in the beginning stages of the MySpace fad.
  • What types of things do you like to do to “Take 5” and step away from the computer?
  • I like to go for runs. That normally helps me get my stress and anger out in a productive way while getting an awesome workout.
  • How can you help younger siblings or kids be safer online?
  • Just like we teach kids when they are little to look both ways before they cross the street, we have to teach kids from the moment they start using the computer how to use it safely and effectively. It's never too early to teach safety practices such as “Take 5” or “think be4 you click.”
