The Top 10 Things You Can Do
1. Use a reputable security software and make sure it is updated automatically.
2. Set your operating system security to automatically download and install security updates.
3. Use passwords to secure your computer, access to special files and all communication tools.
4. Check the reputation of a site before trusting them for a download or with your money.
5. Don’t share passwords with anyone, even your best friend (especially your best friend!).
6. Don’t use a 20 questions password that others can easily guess. Instead use a Girl Scout
"Designer Password."
7. Only buy from trustworthy and secure websites. To find them, look for the seal of a trustworthy source.
8. Don’t buy anything from SPAM or pop-up ads.
9. When something sounds too good to be true – it’s not true!
10. Always use a credit card when buying something online. The law provides special legal protection on credit card purchases if something goes wrong.
