Vampires in Disguise
Quick, what sound does a vampire make? If you answered "the click of a mouse," you might be right! Internet sexual predators are like vampires. It's only after you've gotten to know them that you find out who they really are and how much damage they can do.
And if you've ever seen a TV show or movie about vampires (or vampire slayers), then you've learned the most important lesson: f you don't invite a vampire into your home, he/she won't get in. Internet sexual predators are the same way.
But it's not just your home they're trying to get in to. It's your heart. It's by learning who you are, what you like, and winning you over. Then they might invite you out for dinner. Or ask you to meet them at the mall. Or they may book a hotel room for a romantic afternoon.
So lock them out -- Keep your profile private. Don't let the vampires in. After all, they can't just reach through your computer and grab you. So your safety is really in your own hands. Cool.
