Talk To Your Friends

Has anyone ever told you that you talk too much? We thought so... But now we're actually telling you to talk. Think it's too good to be true? Talking to your friends about what you've learned is the best way to educate them on -- and protect them from -- internet sexual predators.

Take an hour and sit with a friend (or a bunch of friends) and talk about it. Here are just a few ideas of topics you can cover...

  • What have you learned about online sexual predators?
  • Have you or a friend encountered personal experiences with sexual predators?
  • Have you been solicited online?
  • Are some of your friends exhibiting risky behaviors?
  • Where and how would you report any creep who tries to get you to meet them in RL?
  • How could you tell if someone is who they said they are online? (Trick question…you can’t!)

Then start a conversation about what you would do if a close friend was involved with someone they met online.

  • How would you start a conversation with a friend who is “in love” with someone they only know online?
  • What if you learned or suspected they were an adult?
  • What steps should you take?
  • Would you and should you tell if they wouldn't heed your advice?
  • If so, how? Who would you tell?

Talk. Share your ideas. You'll be doing your friends a huge favor.

Tell your friends about this website too, so they can explore it on their own and learn more than what you're telling them.
