Protecting Your Personal Information and Passwords
WiredSafety’s research showed that 70% of teens polled shared their passwords with their friends. Lots of boyfriends and girlfriends share their passwords with each other to show that they trust them and have nothing to hide.
This is a big problem, especially in middle school when friends often fall in and out of friendship and they breakup with each other all the time. Former friends and boyfriends know how to hurt us. They know our private information and passwords. They know what hurts most. We shared secrets with them when they were still our friend. They may have private and embarrassing pics of us too.
And our close friends know the inside story and the rumors. They also know who to get on their side, against us. They know our enemies and how to hurt us. Or they may become jealous or hurt when we end the relationship.
What can we do? Well, maybe we should never share our secrets with our best friends or trust our boyfriends. But that would be awful! But we can keep our passwords secret, and choose ones our BFF and boyfriends can’t guess. And we can act fast if we get into an argument by changing our passwords before someone can use it against us.
